Dîner en Blanc 2015

On the last day of July, Thursday the 31st, I joined 1,500 Calgarians and participated in an all-white chic picnic in the park. What's so magical about Dîner en Blanc is the secrecy of the location's event prior to the day of the event, and the concept that the night will be what you create: meaning that you are required to supply your physical table, all decorations, tableware and food. The beauty is in the effort. I have always wanted to be a part of it, however it wasn't until I met a gem by the name of Katy Bond while I was on an media assignment from my internship at Branded Magazine where she fell upon my path. This year she was a Host. Essentially the go-to for making things happen. Kudos to you Katy and thank you for inviting me to join the DEB family.

So yes. This was my first year at the event AND I was fortunate enough to participate as a Table Leader, meaning I was responsible for 50 people, 25 couples. After countless time spent on curating perfectly articulated e-mails, and committing hours to keeping up with the chaos I am confident to conclude that I managed to pull it off. The weather was absolutely amazing. Shout out to the universe for adding that to the magic.

I took my friend Sam. You may know him as the charming bartender at Una (seriously though, he's actually recognized when we've been out and about), or through his music: Beach Season. Our night was tumultuous; but in the best way. We were lucky enough to get photographed by the talented, Kelly Hoffer. He gave me his card which allowed me to follow through on him and look him up. The conclusion: I'm a big fan. I highly advise you to check him out. He's bold, fearless and extremely inspiring. Not to mention his photos are stunning. He was kind enough to share a few with me from the night, which I will share with you all below.

All in all: I feel grateful to have crossed this off the list at twenty-three.
